Management Positions
Department Manager
Ensuring their department’s staff is focused on customer service, the
department manager is also responsible for the overall appearance and
financial success of the store level department, including ordering and
merchandising, controlling inventories, scheduling personnel,
supervising staff performance and achieving financial targets.
Customer Service/Front End Manager
Supervises all cashiers and front end operations with an emphasis on a
hassle free, friendly customer service experience at the fron end of
the store. Serves as point of contact for all customer questions,
requests and returns. Handles special customer services, complaints and
payment problems, and assists customers with special needs. Can also
supervise and direct the activities of the front end customer service
staff.
Assistant Store Manager
Shares responsibility with the store manager for store performance,
focusing on the staff’s customer service in the store’s operations and
appearance, merchandising and promotions, and supervision and direction
of staff. In some stores you may be responsible for the interviewing
and hiring of staff.

Department Positions
Front End Cashiers
Front End Cashiers Front End team members are the store’s first-line customer service professionals, responsible for fast, accurate checkout, pleasant customer relations and efficient checkstand operations.
Produce/Floral
Produce and floral artistry assists these customer driven specialists
in making colorful arrangements of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers
and in responding to customer queries with their expert knowledge of
uses and varieties.
Meat/Seafood
Experienced customer service experts ensure that all meat and seafood
items are in stock, fresh and healthful, safely prepared, properly
wrapped and priced, and attractively displayed. They are skilled
professionals with in-depth knowledge of their products and preparation
methods.
Grocery
Focusing on customer service skills grocery team members are the store’s replenishment experts, ensuring that customers are able to find the items they need in stock, correctly located, accurately priced and properly rotated.
Bistro / Coffee Bar
Just like many of the popular coffeehouses, serving customers a great drink and snack by creating an array of coffees, lattes, and other beverages and snacks.
Deli
These customer service specialists prepare a wide variety of deli
meats, cheeses, party trays, salads, sandwiches, and hot and cold
entrees.
Bakery
Skilled customer service staff are responsible for creating the
tempting array of pies, cakes, cookies, breakfast items and specialty
desserts displayed in a retail bakery.
